In the Quran, Allah Almighty has said that there are verses in this book that are ambiguous, and those who are well-versed in knowledge have faith in them. Only Allah has the knowledge of their true interpretation.

The last verses of Surah At-Talaq:

Narrated by ‘Amr ibn ‘Ali: Wakī’ narrated from Al-A’mash, who narrated from Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, who narrated from Mujahid, who narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding the statement of Allah: “Seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof.” Ibn ‘Abbas said: “If I were to explain it to you, you would disbelieve, and your disbelief would be similar to the denial of it.”

Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, the narrator in the chain, is mentioned by Imam Al-Qutayni and Imam An-Nasa’i. They said he was not reliable.

Narrated by Ibn Humaid: Yahya ibn Ya’qub narrated from Ja’far ibn Abi Al-Mughira that Sa’id ibn Jubayr said: A man asked Ibn ‘Abbas about the verse: “It is Allah who created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them.” The man asked, “What does it mean?” So Ibn ‘Abbas said, “What makes you think that I would tell you its meaning, and then you would disbelieve?”

In the book “Kitab As-Sarifini,” Ibn Mandah said: Sa’id ibn Jubayr is not reliable.

Note: The existence of seven heavens is confirmed, and people have faith in them. However, it is not mentioned in the Quran that humans can travel to these heavens and return to Earth.

Meaning of word Sabab

The word “sabab” in Surah Al-Kahf has different interpretations. Saahil Adim Sahib’s second major evidence for his portal theory is based on the verses of Surah Al-Kahf that contain the word “sabab.”

In Urdu, we also use the word “sabab,” which means cause, direction, side, or path. All these phrases convey the same meaning that the issue should be understood from a certain direction or perspective without deviating. In Arabic, the same meanings are associated with this word.

The verses in Surah Al-Kahf (18:84-85) state: “Indeed, We established him upon the earth, and We gave him [the means of] everything as a sabab. Then he followed a sabab.”

Here it is mentioned that Zul-Qarnain was given dominion over the earth and he was provided with the means for everything. Then he followed a path or direction.

According to the Tafsir of Tabari, Ibn Abbas said that it means they were given knowledge of everything.

There are various interpretations regarding this:

– Qasim narrated from Al-Husayn, who narrated from Hujaj, who narrated from Ibn Jurayj, regarding the statement of Allah: “And We gave him [the means of] everything as a sabab.” He said: “Knowledge of everything.”
– Muhammad bin Sa’d narrated from his father, who narrated from his uncle, who narrated from his father, who narrated from Ibn Abbas: “And We gave him [the means of] everything as a sabab” means knowledge.
– It is mentioned that Abu Mu’adh said: “Ubayd narrated to me, he said: ‘I heard Dahhak saying about the statement of Allah: “And We gave him [the means of] everything as a sabab” – he said: “Knowledge of the paths of the heavens.”‘

These narrations suggest that the meaning here is knowledge.

Saahil Adim Sahib prefers the interpretation mentioned in Tabari’s Tafsir.

According to Imam Bukhari in his book “Tarikh al-Kabir,” Ali said that Abdul Rahman bin Zaid bin Aslam is extremely weak.

Imam Ali Al-Madini also considered him very weak.

Imam Ath-Tha’labi mentioned in his book “Diyar Al-Ifta’ Wal-Matrookin” that the children of Zaid bin Aslam are weak.

Al-Nasai said: “Weak in Madinan narrations” (Al-Du’afa’ Wal-Matrookin).

It can be concluded that the interpretation by Abdul Rahman bin Zaid bin Aslam holds no authority, and it is a weak opinion to link the portals mentioned in Surah Al-Kahf with the idea of people traveling through them.

In Surah An-Naml, it is mentioned that Solomon addressed the Queen of Sheba and said, “Enter the palace.” It was a command to enter a building, not to open a portal. Pharaoh commanded the construction of a building, not the opening of a portal through Haman.

Pharaoh asked for a tower to be built so that he could see signs beyond the stars and observe their influence on Egypt. Pharaoh and his people did not deny the existence of Allah; rather, their debate was whether Allah was near the Earth or if celestial bodies close to the Earth had an influence. They believed that the celestial bodies had an impact on the Earth, not that there was a god beyond the distant heavens. Therefore, Pharaoh instructed Haman to build a tower to observe the stars and their effects on Egypt.

It can be observed that the interpretation provided by Abdul Rahman bin Zaid bin Aslam does not hold any significant authority. It cannot be considered as conclusive evidence to support the notion that portals were opened on Earth during the time of the Companions, allowing the people of the Cave, Ya’juj and Ma’juj, Dhul-Qarnayn, or the Dajjal to pass through them.

The idea of portals enabling such travel is not supported by strong and reliable evidence from the Qur’an or authentic Hadith sources. It is important to rely on sound scholarly interpretations and established sources of Islamic knowledge when considering these matters.

Meaning of Aynin hami’ah:

The concept of “عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ” (aynin hami’ah) according to Sahil Adim is found in the verse of Surah Al-Kahf where it is mentioned that Dhu al-Qarnayn reached a place where “حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ” (until he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a muddy spring). It is stated that when he reached the place of the sunset, he found it setting in a spring of murky water.

Tabari mentioned that there is a difference in the recitation of this verse. Some readers in Medina and Basra recite “فِي عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ” (in a muddy spring) in the sense that the sun appeared to set in a spring of hot water. And a group of readers in Medina and the majority of readers in Kufa recite it as “فِي عَيْنٍ حَامِيَةٍ” (in a hot spring), meaning that the sun appeared to set in hot water.

According to the recitation of Medina and Basra, it means a muddy spring, and according to the recitation of Kufa, it means the setting of the sun in water that is being heated. Sahil Adim suggests that the meaning of “عَيْنٍ” (ayn) in Arabic is an eye, and “حَمِئَةٍ” (hami’ah) means hot. So it is as if an fiery eye was formed, like a round portal.

In Surah Al-Mutaffifin (83:28), it is mentioned “عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ” (A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink). Here, the term “مُقَرَّبُونَ” (those near [to Allah]) is drinking from the spring.

It means through their eyes.

Allah has said to Musa (Moses) “فإنك باعيننا” (For you are in our sight). Meaning, “you were in our eyes.”

The term “عَيْنٌ” (ayn) refers to a spring, but it is metaphorically used for an eye because the eye is a means of perceiving water or moisture.

Regarding the creature “دابة ألأرض” (Dabbah al-Ardh), Sahil Adim suggests that it is mentioned that this creature will not come from the same earth but from another planet.

According to Sahil Adim, near the coast, there is a misconception that the creature of Dajjal is a donkey-like animal that engages in time travel. However, there is no authentic hadith to support this.

The purpose of creating all these concepts by Sahil Adim is to convey the narrations that Surah Al-Kahf will protect from the trials of the Dajjal (the Antichrist). This Site Author states that there is significant uncertainty regarding the authenticity of the narrations that consider Surah Al-Kahf as a safeguard against the Dajjal. Through research, it has been established that there is ambiguity present in these narrations, and a belief cannot be formed based on uncertain narrations.
